Golf Club Of Fossil Creek, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Fort Worth, Texas. The course likes to bill itself as "The Southwest's most exclusive public course."
The Fossil Creek golf course first opened for play in 1987
Fossil Creek will challenge golfers of all skill levels. The course has beautiful rolling fairways and 18 testing holes all intertwined throughout streams created by Fossil Creek. This par 72 public course, designed by Arnold Palmer, winds its way through 1150 acres of natural Texas terrain.
Surrounded by rocky-ledged creeks and crystal lakes, gently contoured bluffs and massive trees, each of the 18 holes at The Golf Club at Fossil Creek issues a continuous string of challenges to experienced and beginning golfers alike. Fossil Creek is a challenging course with lots of: water (14 holes, which can cause a lot of trouble); creeks and ravines to cross; hazards including sand; a variety and doglegs (13); rolling hills with minor elevation changes; and tricky greens - now that's what makes a course fun, challenging, yet fair! You may want to leave your driver at home because this course requires excellent club selection, accuracy and course management. Although the course is not real narrow, if you get in the rough you will have additional trouble. Did all of that scare you away, I hope not because if you play this course you will really like it.
In the November 2003 issue of "Avid Golfer", in the Central Texas area they rated the Golf Club at Fossil Creek number 1 of the Best Golf Clubs with green fees of $40 to $60 and #1 of the best Bermuda greens courses.

I played using Avid Golfer coupon which is a great deal; regular price is pricey. Fairways in good shape, greens although appearance wise a bit rough, but putted true with a little bit of pace. Sand traps are excellent - brilliant white sand give impression of Fla traps which are aethistically appealing across the course. Club Staff, cart girl and cart guy - all pros and courteous. Course receives a great deal of play and it is beginning to show around various areas of the course, specifically cart paths and the carts themselves. Course suffers the same issues as other courses which receive a signficnat amount of play - golfers failing to fill in divots in fairways and repair ball marks on greens. A very simple thing for all of us to do. Play Fossil, see if you can find an Avid Golfer/Ideal Golfer coupon to make it a great experience.

I enjoy playing the course, especially using Avid Golfer coupon. Otherwise, it is a little pricey. Good challenge though, particularly in the wind.

I am a regular at Fossil Creek, They have the best deal for annual membership in the area.
That said, the sand traps are a definite detriment to the quality of the course. It is a Palmer design and the layout is very good except for 2 par 5s where driver is taken out of your hands. The greens are generally very good - especially for Bermuda greens and the fairways stay in pretty nice shape year round.
Some of the staff leave something to be desired but most are welcoming and attentive. The food and beverage service is up and down as the clubhouse is closed to players often when a wedding is being held. They simply do not have the facility set up properly to handle both weedings and golfers simultaneously, although ample space exists to accomodate everyone.

This was the first time I'd played here this year. Course was in excellent condition, and the twilight rates are quite reasonable. Definitely a good value for the money!

This is not one of my favorites. The greens and fairways were in very good condition and the lunch was excellent.

Don't try to walk this course unless you are very, very fit. There is a great distance between the greens and the next tee box.

We had a coupon on this visit. Regular price is $60+. Other courses can be played in the area for less that have better conditions.
